History Inspired Travel

Mont Saint-Michel – Normandy, France – June 2023

How I started traveling

While on my first trip to Europe in 1992, I visited Czechoslovakia and on a whim, I decided to tear up my return ticket and stay for a year. That experience spurred many more adventures in Eastern Europe and beyond.

I began my travel adventures when I graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara. It was when I took my first trip to Europe that my dedication to History inspired travel began.

Background and Education

Sharon M. Fitzgerald, MA is from Los Angeles and is passionate about teaching and traveling.  She earned her BA in Art from the University of California, Santa Barbara and her MA in Art History from California State University, Los Angeles.  After teaching at California State University, Los Angeles, she later received her teaching credentials in History.  She started teaching high school in 2017 and by 2021, she was teaching U.S. History and Government in Compton and now teaching in the San Fernando Valley.

In 2019 she went to the 75th anniversary of D-Day and back again in 2023 to Normandy, France. In Bayeux, she met with local Historians and made a podcast and YouTube videos. Click here to check out my YouTube page to check out my video on WWI trench art.

Pre-Covid, Sharon ran The Art History Channel with weekly art history lectures and with museum events with over 2,000 members. In 2024 and beyond, the best way to catch up with Sharon is to join her email list and subscribe to her YouTube channel for upcoming events.
